What each outcome means
Invited to Round Two
- The top 300 after Round One are invited, and everyone tied at the cut-off score is invited too. Source
- Round Two is on Tuesday 6 October 2026: English for 60 minutes and Maths for 50 minutes. The school gives no further detail about content or marking and releases no past papers. Source
- Invited girls are not told their scores or ranking, so that girls who may be offered a place arrive as equals. Source
- An invitation is not an offer. After Round Two, both rounds decide the final rank. Looked-after girls and pupil premium girls in the top 300, then girls living within 3 miles, come before the rest in rank order. Source
- Name HBS on your home council's form by 31 October 2026. Test registration is not an application. Source
Not invited to Round Two
- Girls ranked below 300 are not invited, and a girl can sit the HBS test only once. Source
- Before the CAF deadline you are told her overall standardised score and the cut-off score for the top 300. Source
- HBS is no longer a route for Year 7 entry. Use your council's guidance to finish its form by 31 October 2026 with your other schools. Source

What happened on last year's waiting list
For September 2026 entry, the top 60 on the waiting list were told their position; lower-ranked candidates were not, because in previous years they were unlikely to receive an offer. Second-round offers were made on 26 March, and by 4 September 2026 the school had offered places up to number 47 on the waiting list. Source
That is the September 2026 cycle. It does not predict how far the 2027 list will move, and the school publishes no pass mark in advance.

Do I still need to fill in the council form?
Yes. The HBS registration is only for the test. You must name the school on your home council's Common Application Form by 31 October 2026.
